You can optimize your videos by choosing descriptive titles filled with keywords and adding a transcript or a summary of the content of the video you want to feature. If you want to use YouTube for video sharing, use the editing tools that they have featured on their site. You can put annotations on a video, for instance. You can share links, give more details about your product or even provide a coupon code. If you offer services to your customers, the best way to give them an idea of what you do is to create a video that documents the different steps you take to perform this service. You should have a friend follow you with a camera the next time you perform this service for a customer.
I’m actually being serious.
If you want to actually make money and have a real business and use the Internet to make real sales, then stop blogging.
And I’ll tell you why…
Because thinking of this whole thing like a blogger just isn’t the way to go.
A person who self-identifies as a blogger is going to think their end product is blog posts. You have to write alot. If a few days goes by and you haven’t posted something, you feel like you’re failing. When you think of how to get more traffic, you start thinking the answer is to write yet MORE blog posts!
That’s blogging. You’re just writing for the sake of writing. You’re happy when you get things like comments, retweets and shares. You start getting tunnel vision on vanity metrics like those.
But, then you think “I want to monetize this!”.
“Monetize”. The language of a blogger.
And you then start chasing the usual suspects… like banner ads and affiliate links all over the place. Banner ads because it seems easy and obvious…. affiliate links because the “blog …Read more...»

The Redwood Strategy: The Efficient Content Strategy To Dominate SEO And Get More Traffic (While Blogging Much Less)
The tallest tree in the world is estimated to be 700-800 years old. It stands a whopping 379 feet tall… about 74 feet higher than the top of the Statue of Liberty.
This tree is named Hyperion. It is located in northern California and is a sequoia tree. This type of tree is known for it’s sheer size. In fact, they make tunnels through these things.
As you might imagine, these trees didn’t get this way overnight. Some of these big trees are estimated to be as much as 2,000 years old.
Like any other tree, at one point these trees were small and didn’t look much different than any other tree on the forest floor. They started off as a little tiny tree that you or I could have ripped down with our bare hands. But, over time, they grew. New wood layers, new tree rings, new growth. Until they are towering over the forrest and now visited as a major attraction.
It is with this metaphor in mind that I want to think about your blog. Specifically, your blog posts.
I wan…Read more...»

Are you in the personal development niche with your blog? Let me ask you…
You find it tough to build up the traffic and make any money with your personal development blog?
Yeah. Perhaps it is a rhetorical question.
The personal development market is HUGE. But, it is also one of the toughest markets to enter without a serious game plan. It is hard to stand out. And it can be even harder to monetize.
But, all is not lost, my friend.
I’m not going to tell you to go pick another niche. But, I AM going to make clear why most people in the personal development blogging market don’t get anywhere, and what you can do differently.
It All Started With An Email…
So, I got this email from a reader of the Blog Marketing Academy. I didn’t pick it for any other reason than it just happened to be recent, but the email is pretty representative of something I’ve seen over and over again.
This person tells me they have a big passion for personal development. They say:

Blogging, as most people think of it, takes time and effort. Time that is often found to be in short supply.
Now, it doesn’t have to be nearly as time consuming as you might think, especially if you use things like The Redwood Strategy.
But, it begs the question…
Do you even need a blog?
In order to build an online business and make money online, do you really need to have a blog at all? And, if you’re running an offline business, is it worth your time having a blog?
The answer to this question requires an understanding of “the big picture” of exactly what a blog does.
What’s The Purpose Of A Blog (For A Business)?
The first of the 10 Commandments Of Online Business is…
A blog doesn’t make any money. A business makes money.
So, the purpose of your blog isn’t to generate income since that’s just not what blogs do. Only a business that sells products or services makes money.
When it comes to making money, you are going to need to sell things. To sell things, you need people to sell to.
How are they going to find you?
In the offline world, businesses…Read more...»
